Senior Coffee Skate

Illustration of three older skaters on the ice and sipping coffee.

A relaxed session for skaters young at heart, and everyone’s welcome. The music’s turned down, the pace is gentler, and nobody’s in a hurry. Whether you skated every winter as a kid or haven’t laced up in decades, this is an easy way to get back on the ice. Your first cup of coffee is on us, so come warm up with a hot drink and good company.

Why skate?

Skating builds leg and core strength, sharpens balance and coordination, and gets your heart pumping, all without the pounding of running or court sports. The endorphins help too. Best of all, it’s social: a lap or two with friends, a chat at the boards, and you’ll leave in a better mood than you arrived. Helmets, wrist guards, and knee pads are available if you’d like a little extra confidence.

What to wear

  • Layers you can add or shed
  • Moisture-wicking fabrics to keep you dry
  • Flexible pants or leggings that let you move freely
  • A snug jacket for warmth without bulk; skip anything baggy that could catch on your skates
