Learn to Play Hockey

Learn to Play Hockey at Palouse Ice Rink

Learn to Play Hockey is the starting point for young players ages 4–12 who are new to the sport or not yet ready for competitive play. The program builds the four fundamentals of hockey — agility, balance, coordination, and skating — in a supportive, fun environment.

There are no games, but informal scrimmages pop up during some practices. The focus is on building confidence and skills, not scoreboards.

Learn to Play is run through the Palouse Youth Hockey Association. Register and learn more at palousehockey.com.

Try Hockey Free

Not sure if hockey is right for your child? PIR hosts periodic Try Hockey Free events — free sessions where kids can get on the ice in gear and give the game a shot. Check the schedule or contact the rink for upcoming dates.
