New Sign, New Season — Fall Newsletter 2026

The new illuminated Palouse Ice Rink sign at night

Hello Palouse Ice Rink family,

Our ice goes in late September, which means the season is close. Here’s what’s happening at the rink between now and then.

A New Sign

We have a new sign! Volunteer ingenuity, sweat and community came together to make it happen.

A big thank you to Wasankari Construction/Building Recyclers for donating our first steel sheet, and to KG Management for donating the time and expertise to cut out all of the forms — that was amazing. Pete Robichaud, Brian Blaze, Tim Spencer and Mark McGuire brought the time, skill and muscle to refine, mount and electrify the finished sign. Thanks to Erik and Robert Jacobson, who provided the art and design.

And, as always, your donations make it all possible. Donate to the rink

25 Years — Join Us at the Gala

Friday, September 11 · Palouse Activity and Recreation Center (the PARC)

Our rink community turns 25, and we’re throwing a party on the arena floor — just weeks before this season’s ice goes in.

The evening is a catered dinner with drinks, live and silent auctions, a short presentation, and a commemorative film. The Zamboni will be parked on the floor, so bring your camera.

  • 5:00 pm — Doors open, social hour
  • 6:00 pm — Dinner
  • 7:00 pm — Presentation, followed by the auctions

Auction proceeds go toward equipment upgrades, loan repayment and rink maintenance.

Seats are $100; a table of eight is $700. Register by August 30 to select your meal — after that, dinner is still available but options will be limited.

Figure Skating & Learn to Skate

Learn to Skate is where nearly everyone at the rink got started — a low-pressure introduction for kids and adults who have never set foot on ice. No experience and no equipment required.

Once you’re comfortable on your edges, the Palouse Hills Skating Club takes it further, with coaching in jumps, spins and footwork for skaters working toward tests, competition, or simply their own next skill. Watch the video

Curling

Curling is the easiest sport at the rink to try for the first time — a couple of hours and a decent pair of clean shoes is all it takes to find out whether you like it. Leagues and learn-to-curl sessions are open to everyone, no experience necessary. Curling details · Watch the video

It’s been a great summer. Kids Camp was a blast, roller hockey and skater tots packed the floor, and disco skating was a genuine hit (light-up wheels ROCK, yo). But we’re ready for ice. Before it goes in, we get to throw a party. Come party and play with us.

If you have questions about anything — call us at 208-882-7188 or email manager@palouseicerink.com.

See you at our beautiful, community-built rink,

— Your friends at Palouse Ice Rink
