Palouse Youth Hockey Association will be hosting our annual Mite Winter Freeze Tournament this weekend!

We host 4 visiting Senior Mite teams (mostly 7 and 8 year olds) and 5 visiting Junior Mite teams (mostly 5 and 6 year olds).

Games are played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the Championship Senior Mite game at 11:45 AM on Sunday.

In following USA Hockey’s American Development Model, younger players play on smaller sized areas to match their size and to increase the number of puck touches.  This means that the Senior Mites will utilize 2/3 of the Palouse Ice Rink surface while the Junior Mites play cross-ice on the remaining 1/3 of the ice surface for a large part of the weekend.  In two Saturday sessions at 10:30 AM and 5:15 PM, there will be up to 3 simultaneous Junior Mite cross-ice competitions going on!  In addition to being incredibly cute, these enthusiastic players are becoming very good skaters and hockey players.  Come out and experience the excitement!
